Star Fox (Switch 2) Medals & Challenge Mode

A medal rewards a clean run: enough hits and all three wingmates alive at the finish. Hit the number, keep your team flying, and the medal is yours. Collect them to unlock Expert mode. Then sharpen runs in Challenge Mode.

Two rules, every time: reach the hit target and don't lose a wingmate. If Falco, Peppy or Slippy goes down and doesn't return, the medal won't register — regardless of your score.

Missions you can medal

Medals are awarded per mission, across every branch on the route map. Because the paths split, you'll replay to earn them all:

Exact hit targets vary by mission and difficulty — focus on maxing your hit count while keeping the team alive, and use Challenge Mode to learn each stage.

Challenge Mode

Challenge Mode lets you replay any cleared stage with fresh objectives that don't appear in the campaign. Each challenge runs on Normal or Expert, so it doubles as the best practice ground for medal runs and for stepping up to Expert difficulty.

How to farm hits

• Charged lock-on shots tag multiple enemies — great for groups and bosses.
• Let your wingmates soften enemies, then steal the kill to pad your count.
• On all-range missions, circle and bait enemies into clustered passes.
• Use Joy-Con 2 mouse aiming for precise, fast target snaps — see controls.

Smart order for completion

1. Bank the easier missions first to learn the medal rhythm.
2. Clear the easy route, then take the hard route for Area 6.
3. Mop up remaining missions across extra runs, then chase Expert medals.
